Ameripolish SR² is a penetrating stain repellent specifically formulated to protect polished, dyed, and non-dyed concrete from oil and water-based stains.
The water and oil repelling qualities of SR² provide superior stain protection on most substrates. SR² is most commonly used in industrial installations but can be installed in residential kitchens and bathrooms for additional stain protection.
Penetrating Sealers—Extreme Stain Protection
Ameripolish SR2 is a part of the class of sealers known as penetrating silicones. These sealers are known for their extreme stain protection, especially against oil-based stains. Ameripolish SR2 has the unique characteristic of not significantly changing the appearance of a concrete surface, so it’s an ideal sealer for when an extremely natural-looking floor is specified.
Because its performance generally exceeds that of a standard semi-penetrating stain guard such as Ameripolish 3D SP, SR2 is often used in conjunction with stain guards to increase overall performance. The combination of these two products provides the color and sheen enhancement offered by a stain guard with the extreme stain protection offered by Ameripolish SR2.
Ameripolish SR2 on Residential Polished Concrete Floors
Ameripolish SR2 is commonly used in residential installs, especially in high-traffic areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. Because SR2 does not change the color of concrete, it can be used in specific areas of a house without any noticeable transition. As it leaves concrete looking very natural, it’s also commonly used on exterior polished concrete such as patios and pool decks.
Ameripolish SR2 Durability
The one major limitation of this class of concrete sealer is that they break down over time. Performance can be monitored by how effectively the surface repels water. In a well-performing application, water should bubble on the concrete surface like a freshly waxed car. As the water dries, it will stay on the surface without penetrating into the concrete. As the sealer degrades, water will began to absorb into the concrete. When this occurs, contact a decorative concrete professional to have the concrete evaluated for reapplication.
